Frequently asked questions
How can someone check a signed document?
Every document gets a completion certificate, a SHA-256 fingerprint and an independent, timestamped proof. Anyone can check it at gewapesign.com/verify, without an account and without contacting us.
Can I keep my own copies?
Yes. Finished documents download as PDF files together with their certificate, and they remain valid outside GewapeSign.
What is recorded about signers?
Name, email address, the time of each step, network address and browser. These details appear in the audit trail and certificate, and stay with the document in Africa.
Are electronic signatures legal in Rwanda?
For most documents, yes. Rwanda recognizes electronic signatures and electronic contracts under Law N° 18/2010, and every GewapeSign document carries an audit trail and a completion certificate that support your records. The law excludes wills, negotiable instruments, powers of attorney and documents relating to immovable property, and some documents need other formalities. Check those with your legal adviser.
