Electronic Signature Disclosure
Please read this before you sign a document electronically with GewapeSign.
1. Agreeing to sign electronically
When you choose to sign a document through GewapeSign, you agree to receive, review and sign it in electronic form, and that your electronic signature has the same effect as your handwritten signature on a paper copy of the same document. In Rwanda, electronic signatures and records are recognized under Law N° 18/2010 of 12/05/2010 relating to electronic messages, electronic signatures and electronic transactions. Some documents may require other formalities under the law that applies to them; the sender is responsible for choosing a suitable method for each document.
2. Who sent you the document
The document comes from the person or organization named in the email and on the signing page (the sender). GewapeSign, a service of Gewape Cloud Rwanda Limited, provides the signing platform. We are not a party to the document. Questions about its content go to the sender.
3. Getting a paper copy
You can download the document as a PDF at any time from the link you received, and print it. When everyone has signed, you receive the completed document and its signing certificate by email. You may also ask the sender for a paper copy.
4. Choosing not to sign electronically
You are not required to sign electronically. If you prefer paper, do not sign: use Reject on the signing page or contact the sender to make other arrangements. Withdrawing your consent after you have signed does not affect documents you have already signed electronically.
5. What you need
- A device. a computer, tablet or phone with a current web browser
- Email. a working email address where you can receive the signing link and the completed document
- A PDF viewer. to open, save or print the completed document
6. What is recorded
To provide evidence of the signature, GewapeSign records your name and email address, the time of each step, your network (IP) address and your browser and device type. These details appear in the document's audit trail and signing certificate, and they are kept with the document in Rwanda. See the Privacy Notice.
7. Keeping your contact details up to date
If your email address changes, tell the sender so you keep receiving documents and copies.
